Behind the book Misaligned

When I wrote this book I added items that exist in recorded and present history. Names and places that show up today in our records. If an advanced civilization came to our planet, why wouldn’t there be remnants of their influence left behind. I thought it would be fun to reference those things indirectly throughout the story.  Here are my thoughts on each of those things that I added.

Aluxob - Aluxob are conceived of as being small, only about knee-high, and look like a miniature dressed Mayan. In my book they are the secondary race of the Kunan home planet. I imagined the Kunan leader discussing them with the city priest. Maybe they brought a few of the Alux with them when they came to the planet. I’m sure if that was the case, these small people would probably scurry into the city to steal food. After a while the Mayans would write stories of how these devilish creatures would cause mischief to the food stores. These stories would be told among the farmers and common people.

Kunan – The Kunan or the Ku was the common or collective name of the Mayan gods. They were also known as “the Shining Ones”. I imagined the aliens coming to the planet in great metallic ships with bright lights along the side. I also imagined that the common folk would not have direct contact with the alien beings. The race would be identified by their ships. It would be logical to describe them as “the Shining Ones”.

The environment on a distant planet would not be like our planet, causing life to evolve differently than here. There would be some commonalities, but they would be distributed among different branches of evolution.  There are two types of aliens described in the conspiracy theories, the reptile looking ones, and the “Greys”. These “Greys” have been reported in other colors but are predominantly grey. A fun thought was that this was a camouflage ability that was no longer needed, so it evolved out of the race to a point where each individual could pick an overall color, but could no longer match the environment around them. I thought it possible that a color could be used to indicate rank or social status. Since we discover mostly greys, the most predominate people in a planetary landing would be military. The descriptions of these beings reminded me of something that came out of the ocean, a creature that is used to a harsh liquid environment, capable of withstanding extreme temperatures, pressures, and possibly having regenerative properties as well. A mouth, nose, and other such orifices would be a detriment in a pressurized environment .  The result is the telepathic amphibious predator after a few hundred thousand years of evolution you find in this book.

Zeilan - Zeilan-Ka was an ancient Mayan city. I thought it possible that it could have been named after the god that presided over the city.

Shilanka – Shilanka was also a Mayan city, I named the other alien character that for the same reason.

Hunab - Hunab Ku is a Yucatec Maya word meaning "The Only God". I thought it possible that the priests heard the aliens talking about their boss, and misinterpreted.

Devachan - Devachan is the "dwelling of the gods" (Sanskrit /Tibetan). Devachan is regarded as the place where most souls go after death where desires are gratified. I imagined it as a sales pitch by the aliens to get humans to do the ritual. This is the other set of aliens in the book, or the reptile ones. The fact that we haven’t seen these aliens buzzing around in their space ships bothered me. What reason would an advanced civilization need to hide from us? If I flew to a planet that was inhabited by cavemen, I would park my ship anywhere. Why would I be concerned about the rodents inhabiting the rocks? Okay, scientific research could be one explanation, but how long can an experiment go on before you’ve gotten all the data. The only explanation I could come up with is, they are hiding from someone/something else. I needed an opposing race with different ideals in the war between the aliens. The first thought that came to mind was an ant colony. I imagined what it would be like if the individual ants were more evolved. An ant would have little need of a name. I couldn’t imagine two ants at the water cooler saying “Hey Joe, how was your day?”

“Well, I carried in fifty three seeds and forty one rocks today.”

I imagined an ant would be all about getting the job done. They would get up in the morning and follow someone’s pheromone trail to the food and haul it back in a repetitive drudgery, never stopping to chat. I felt an ant that was evolved to just work, would never miss a great ant volleyball tournament. Eventually as tasks became more complicated, they would develop some sort of communication to take care of the details, but would probably be addressed by their life long job designation.

I imagined that the two intergalactic species were peaceful enough at the start. Since the Kunan didn’t have a language of their own, negotiations were probably handled in the Devachan Language. As the Galaxy filled with inhabitants, “I got there first!” kind of arguments occurred.

Giza – Home of the Great Pyramids, It has been suggested by Edward Hyman that the pyramids were a microwave energy transmitter. I thought it would be fun to add that to the book. I imagined that an alien race would use the resources available on the planet. It would be logistically difficult to haul building materials from the home planet. If rock could be molded it would be the perfect substance to build with. The rock could be made to exact size and specifications. If you wanted, designs could be added to the mold that would baffle modern archeologists.

Tikal – Tikal is the Mayan capitol. I figure if an alien race made a main base, that place would become the cradle of civilization. In my book, all the needs of the people were taken care of by the aliens. If after hundreds of years those people were abandoned, the whole civilization would seem to disappear. Hmm…sounds familiar.

Xibalba – Xibalba is Mayan hell. I needed a period specific way for a character to show extreme frustration.

Planetary alignment – It is said that the planets align every five thousand years, to some extent. (give or take some years).  The Mayan were very proficient in celestial science. (If I had space aliens in my back yard, I would be too.) Given the limitations of speed, and the distances between planets, physicists claim that gravity would be a good way to defeat those limitations. In a planetary alignment the effects of gravity at the sun could be boosted enough to perform advanced travel such as teleportation. In my book the Devachan use this to send an army pro tempore across space. Having direct contact with the Devachan would have allowed the Mayan to know the exact date of the alien grand re-entrance. They could have built calendars and such to mark the event. FYI the picture on the cover is an actual picture of the sun during an anomaly that happened just before the end of the Mayan calendar (spaceship added). The anomaly is scarily regular shaped. (Cue horror music) In the book an alien race of opposite alignment to another race misses the chance to use the planetary alignment for invasion, hence the title.

Shinar – Shinar is home of the ancient Tower of Babble. I imagined a people stripped of their ability to exchange thoughts, where spoken language was no longer used, might inspire such a legend. This was added for fun, and was not intended to offend anyone from any doctrine.

The Enlightened Ones – They are also known as the Illuminati. Admittedly I know little about the Illuminati. Why would I, it’s a secret organization. Who’s to say that they weren’t started by an alien faction? They are the perfect dark villainous organization to add as the enemy. They are also prominently mentioned in many of the modern Mayan doomsday conspiracies. If any of my readers are a leader of this organization, I have many world domination ideas that I could share. Let’s talk.

Mount Blanc – This is a location on the outskirts of Geneva Switzerland. It is reported to be the home to the “Council of Twelve”. What a perfect place for the Illuminati headquarters.

Anastas – Anastas is one of the Sir names reported to be involved with the Illuminati. Enough said.

Area 51 – Area51 is a base located in a dried up lake called Groom Lake. It is near a city called Indian Springs in Nevada. This spot is legendary for alien activity, and I would be in eternal shame if I didn’t add this location to the book.
